This is what the organisation said about Freena’s talk:
Poetry on stage. Innovative in her projects as well as her way of presenting, Freena Eijffinger gives us insight into the tools she developed to speed up diagnosis of autism. A story straight from the heart, as her motivation to develop the tools and start her own company comes from personal experience. Eijffinger won her place on the TEDxBrainport stage through a call for contribution issued by a local media partner. She deserved every minute of it.

Microsoft and Samsung reveil SUR40 (official press release 1-2-2011)

Last week we were at the Integrated Systems Europe convention in Amsterdam. We met with the Samsung and Microsoft Surface team and even ahd a chance to see and touch the new Surface called SUR40. We had the unique opportunity to be at the closed press-conference and hear how Microsoft and Samsung Unveil Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface. Here is the official press release as it was given to us.

AMSTERDAMFebruary 1, 2011—At the 2011 Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show in Amsterdam, Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (booth 9C111) and Microsoft Corp. unveiled the next generation of the Microsoft Surface experience featuring PixelSense technology. Giving LCD panels the power to see without the use of cameras, Microsoft Surface builds on the first version to include Samsung’s leading display technology. It is now possible for people to share, collaborate and explore together using a large, thin display that recognises fingers, hands and other objects placed on the screen. This experience will come to life in the Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface for business customers later in 2011 across 23 countries. Already in 2011, Dassault Aviation, Fujifilm Corp., Red Bull GmbH, Royal Bank of Canada and Sheraton Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. announced that they will deploy the new product.

“Microsoft continues to innovate in vision-based interaction and software designed for touch. With the introduction of the next generation of Surface, using PixelSense technology, we’ll bring more tables and walls to life with amazing natural experiences for people to enjoy together,” said Panos Panay, general manager, Microsoft Surface. “We partnered with Samsung because of its strengths in LCD technology, hardware design and manufacturing, and worldwide marketing and sales of large-format displays. The companies have built an incredibly successful collaboration that moved from invention to development to manufacturing and sales of a high-quality, industrialised commercial product.”

“Samsung collaborated with Microsoft to bring the Surface experience to a new, thin design with powerful vision-based capabilities in the LCD market. Having already unveiled the product in the U.S. to an extremely positive response, Samsung is excited to continue its collaboration with Microsoft and unveil the Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface to European markets,” said Jeong Hwan Kim, Senior Vice President of Display Sales and Marketing Team, Visual Display, at Samsung Electronics. “The Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface delivers an interactive experience not available anywhere else and will change the way companies engage with their customers.”

Microsoft and Samsung worked closely to develop the LCD panel and the new hardware product, which is being manufactured by Samsung and will be sold to business customers through its broad distribution and reseller network.

With Samsung’s cutting-edge interactive LCD technology and Microsoft’s innovation in vision-based systems, together we were able to define a new LCD architecture,” said Jeong Hwan Kim,.Senior Vice President of Display Sales and Marketing Team, Visual Display, at Samsung Electronics. “This brand-new concept of LCD provides image-sensing technology along with massive multitouch capability and enhanced horizontal durability, which are specialised for the Microsoft Surface experience.”

Support this team’s battle for cancer!!!

As you all know we at Autitouch like to help people with autism. But sometimes there are other goals that need our support. Cancer is one of them. We have experienced the things this nasty disease can do with people and how it can destroy lives. We are also Microsoft Bizspark Partner and the man responsible for this support is Mark Voermans, working at Microsoft Netherlands.

So when Mark told us he and some of his colleagues needed our help, we knew what to do.

Mark and 6 other team-members form the team called “We’re all in“. This team will bike-climb the Alpe d’HuZes on the 9th of June this year in order to raise money for Cancer.
And they need your support! Autitouch will donate 100 euros for every climb, and the teams goal is to do 6 climbs.

There is still a big amount to be raised and they need all the help they can get!
Please take a look at their website and DONATE!!!
They will not disappoint you, we give you our guarantee!

For Reinier

For Reinier, my lovely brother

Let me tell you a story about a dream
about when you almost lose hope
things can suddenly go upstream

In 1986 my baby brother was born
10 fingers, 10 toes
But his mind seemed torn

No interpersonal interaction or social skills
And take it from me
As a child…that kills

It will all work out
I heard doctors say
In 10 years from now all your troubles will go away

But 10 years later, no difference to see
17 years it took
To find the answer on tv

That’s where autism entered my life
7 years it took
7 years of strife

Why does it have to take that long?
Said The frustrated sister in me
‘Cause for us it was as clear as abc

No computer can help us
No mouse, monitor or keyboard to aid
So we have to do everything by hand, that takes time and you just have to wait

No room for observation anymore
No
Timers and spread sheets are our core

Nerd, as I am such
Found my answer in Microsoft Surface
A computer table with multitouch

Now ill show them
The motivation in me said
And the believe grew but was hanging by a thread

It took me two years
To convince, a solution was there
But soundless and slowly grew my despair

Then 1 year later
An innovation fund saved my day
And therefore I’m grateful in every single way

With a medical university by my side
In 2 years from now
Waiting lists and Freena are gonna collide

Digital diagnostics and treatment
Available for everyone
Automated and globally
For every brother, sister, daughter and son

That is when my dream comes true
A small chance to improve the healthcare world
Wouldn’t you?

Love Freena
